Scholarship Details


A $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to 4 graduating high school seniors. All submissions must be uploaded by 11:59 pm March 31, 2024. Submissions that are incomplete, not in accordance with the directions, or not in Commonwealth Credit Union’s possession by the above-mentioned date will not be eligible.

Video Submission Requirements
Upload an Unlisted Video of yourself (5 minutes long maximum) to YouTube where you address each of the following:
  • 1. How are you Bettering Lives in your community?     
  • 2. How can CCU Better Lives of college students?           
  • 3. How will your education help you better lives in the future?    
  • 4. What are you looking for from your banking experience?
  • 5. Creativity and Passion.  

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the Commonwealth Credit Union Scholarship, the following criteria must be met:

  1. Students must be the primary on their Commonwealth Credit Union account by March 31, 2024.
  2. The student must be a graduating high school senior planning to attend post-secondary education in the fall of 2024 at a university, college, trade school, or program resulting in certification or license.
  3. Scholarship winners must provide verification of acceptance/enrollment in a university, college, post-secondary institution, or trade school resulting in certification or license.
  4. Scholarship winners must agree to attend the presentation ceremony held at Louisville Slugger Field.
  5. Scholarship winners will need to provide their official high school transcript.
  6. Commonwealth Credit Union Scholarships are non-transferable and distributed as a one-time payment.
  7. Commonwealth Credit Union associates, their immediate family members (parents or siblings), and official family are not eligible.

Selection Criteria - 50 point maximum
  1. 10% - Answer to “How are you bettering lives in your community today?”
  2. 10% - Answer to “How can CCU better the lives of college students?”
  3. 10% - Answer to “How will your education enable you to better lives in the future?”
  4. 10% - Answer to “What are you looking for from your banking experience?”
  5. 10% – Creativity and Apparent Passion: The applicant addressed the submission requirements in a creative, clear, and logical manner. The applicant showed sincerity, credibility, and passion in their statements.  
  6. Selection will be made without regard to the applicant’s race, religious beliefs, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, national origin, or disability. 
  7. Scholarship Judging Committee is selected by Commonwealth Credit Union and is comprised of professionals working in the field of community outreach, education, and civic awareness.
  8. Must have a minimum 2.0 GPA
Selection will be made without regard to the applicant’s race, religious beliefs, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, national origin or disability. Scholarship Judging Committee is selected by Commonwealth Credit Union and is comprised of professionals working in the field of technology, marketing, or education.

 

2025 Application

The 2025 scholarship application will open on 1/1/25.
